Hello My name is Pyotr Julianov. I am coach in sport[athletic development and sport psychology].
I am very much agree with this article"About not to run or lift just for sake of it".

To be successful in sport I am talking about world level Athletes. You have to be highly specific, very precise. I believe that every physical move you teach must be based on clear understanding[why I do this way? and How it will benefit my performance?].
